Yesterday it was ten years since R&B superstar Aaliyah was tragically killed in a plane crash. Tributes have been pouring in all over the internet, one such being Glasgow producer Hudson Mohawke’s remix of Are You That Somebody. He turns Timbaland’s production into an all boinging all squelching landslide, underpinned by rickety rhythms and moving with plenty of synth bounce. Aaliyah’s compelling vocals are left untouched, floating over the top in a way that highlights just what an important voice she was.
