In very :/ news about artists creative before :/ meant :/, superstar DJ Pete Tong has taken out a 12 month restraining order against Shara Nelson, who famously sang Massive Attack’s 1991 masterpiece Unfinished Sympathy.
Shara had been telling people she was Pete Tong’s manager, and, in court yesterday, gave her name as “Tong”, telling the court Pete’s wife, and the mother of his children, facts he denied, presumably strenuously.
Shara was banned indefinitely from contacting Tong or his friends and family by a west London magistrates, and received a 12-month community order and 80 hours community service. According to reports, Shara looked “a shadow of her former self.”
As well as singing the perfect track below, Shara was a fairly successful singer in her own right, with her debut album ‘What Silence Knows’ shortlisted for the Mercury Prize in 1994.
