UK drill duo Tm & Remy are back with two new singles ‘SLIDE ON ME’ and ‘HOUSE OF PAIN’, raising the bar once again in what is turning out to be another successful year for the London pair.
Following the popularity of their previous singles ‘WACK!’ and ‘Of Course’, the teenage duo continue to hone their fiery brand of UK drill on their latest release, combining abrasive 808s and speaker shaking bass with their unapologetically braggadocio pen game.
First of the new offerings, ‘SLIDE ON ME’ adopts the explosive approach synonymous with Tm & Remy’s discography so far, enlisting fellow Nü Inc. Sound artist and friend vi0let to punctuate the boys’ wordplay with her sun-soaked melodies. Tapping into some of the most cutting edge styles about right now, Tm & Remy are right on trend while remaining true to their own ideas. Think Central Cee’s flows crossed with Abra Cadabra’s hooks and you start to get an idea of the sound Tm & Remy are keen to explore with their new material.
“‘SLIDE ON ME’ was something we wanted to make for fun which quickly became one of our favourite songs while we were in the process of making the track, we really wanted to make it as catchy as possible and give it this jumpy vibe which was perfect for the hook,” says Remy. “Big up Hollyweed the producer as he sent us a pack of instrumentals and this was the one we decided, we quickly got onto logic and started free styling different ideas. As we were making the song we had the great idea to add vi0let in the background to reinforce the singing aspect of the song, there’s something about hearing a female singer on a drill-infused track that makes it different to most drill songs and makes it completely different to anything we’ve dropped.”
‘HOUSE OF PAIN’ is another slapper, showcasing the duo’s inimitable chemistry over a razor-sharp UK drill instrumental. Coming heavy with the hooks once again, it’s another step in the right direction by the duo who are setting themselves up to takeover the scene.
“‘HOUSE OF PAIN’ is a track that inspired us to talk about elements of our past. We wanted to make this just as catchy and re-playable but we also wanted to add this realistic factor of things that happened in what used to be our day to day life,” adds Remy. “The hook resembles a life that included a lot of hate, paranoia, mistrust and pain, something that we wanted to portray as much as we could hence the title House of Pain.”
