Swimming Tapes go back to simpler times in their video for ‘Easy Strand’

The home movie-style video is an accompaniment to the nostalgic track

London by way of Northern Ireland five-piece Swimming Tapes return with a breezy shoegaze track, their first release since their ‘Soft Sea Blue’ EP from 2017. ‘Easy Strand’ is accompanied by an equally breezy video, shot all in one take with a vintage filter, owing to the nostalgia that the track itself conveys.

Director Laurie Barraclough spoke of the need for sentimentality, stating that, “A song about nostalgia needed a video about nostalgia, so we rented a vintage Renault 12 and shot the video like a home-movie. This might be the first one-take, time-bending home movie ever shot? Long car journeys (in the rain) are a big part of growing up and we wanted a video that was exactly that”.

Swimming Tapes are about to embark on their debut UK tour, which kicks off on 15th November and includes a headline show at Moth Club on 20th November – find tickets here.
