Stream: Austin Ato - 'Break My Fall'
Feelgood Scottish producer Austin Ato returns this month with a new EP, 'Break My Fall'. A worthy follow up to his huge ‘Dreams’, the stunning three-tracker is Ato's sophomore release on London imprint TMT Records and features vocals from LA-born, London based vocalist Kenzie May.
Opening with a bang, the EPs title-track Break My Fall is a hazy cut that's ripe for sunset listening. Starting out like an '80s power anthem, Kenzie May’s smoky vocals quickly move the track into a deeper electronic territory as the track steadily builds towards a synth-heavy crescendo. I'm already poolside listening to this whilst I sip on a frozen margarita, by the way.
The rest of the EP digs a little deeper and moves slowly into the later hours, with Take Me To The Desert staking its claim as a life-affirming techno cut, complete with Reece-inspired basslines and poignant synths that leave the taste of euphoria on the tip of your tongue. Closing track Drumlife is – as the name would suggest – as percussion-heavy club workout built up to a peak with tribal chants.
