Speedboat unveil playful synth-pop single 'Dog Toy'

The video pays homage to the cheesy aesthetics of old-school blockbuster movies

Brighton duo Speedboat have shared a new single and video for ‘Dog Toy’, an eccentric cut taken from forthcoming debut EP ‘Split The Bill’.

Following on from their ’80s influenced ‘bigboy123’ released back in November, the brothers mark their return with a charismatic blend of tongue-in-cheek synths and brash Britpop riffage, exploring the seldom-visited realm of carnal desire and sex toys.

While the new wave-inspired synth pop sound of ‘Dog Toy’ does well to encapsulate the band’s influences, the Charlie Fairbairn- directed video brings the track to life with a playful homage to old-school blockbuster aesthetics which wouldn’t look out of place in a 1984 episode of Top Of The Pops.

“With minimum budget and maximum effort – the video reflects the blurred themes that the track explores and takes you on a trip of kicks and pleasure”, said the band.
