Soul star Bobby Womack releasing first album in eight years

XL Recordings sure have a thing for bringing back icons of the past. Following the success of the late-Gil Scott Heron’s ‘I’m New Here’ in 2010, Womack’s upcoming album ‘The Bravest Man in the Universe’, out June 11th and 12th in the UK and US respectively, will be another addition to their roster of singers who changed the face of music.

Lead single Please Forgive Me Now features beats that both contemporise and privilege the voice and the lyrics that made songs like ‘If You Think You’re Lonely Now’ famous and producer Damon Albarn isn’t too shabby either.
