It's a perfect homage to the amapiano sound...

After a phenomenal 2021, Jamz Supernova kicks off the new year with a fresh drop on the Future Bounce club series, this time around from none other than rave eccentric Scratcha DVA.

Founded in 2020, the series has played host to both fresh and established artists and it’s return in 2022 sees the legendary electronic producer and DJ making his way through the Future Bounce doors with a two track release, ‘Siyobonga’ featuring vocalist DemiMa, and club ready cut ‘Hard’.

Fusing the UK club sounds he is known for with South African Gqom and amapiano, Scratcha’s recent output on his own DRMTRK imprint and on Hyperdub has welcomed a pivot in his sound.

The initial idea for lead single ‘Siyobonga’ came from a B2B between Scratcha and close friend Shy One, and is the perfect homage to amapiano with melodies that chime in nicely with DemiMa’s silky vocals.

Speaking about the single, Scratcha says: “I had to recreate the vibe of that blend somehow, so that’s what I did and presented the idea to Demi to write on.” Demi adds: “I was in Durban when Scratcha sent me the track. I loved the fusion of house and amapiano. When Scratcha explained the Larry Heard connection, I was even more inspired to be involved. I appreciate that Scratcha has been loving South African sounds for many years and that he loves Gqom from Durban which is where I’m from. He’s not just jumping on a new wave…he’s been on! I also appreciate how Scratcha has his own vibe, it’s never long to create together.”
