SBTRKT - Hold On (SiSi BakBak remix)

This spellbinding remix of the next SBTRKT single, ‘Hold On’, was played yesterday on Seattle radio station KEXP 90.3 FM , and has had the world’s attention since.

This is for two reasons – the first one being, it’s really very good. With distortion hanging achingly onto the already-haunting vocals, SiSi BakBak has transformed ‘Hold On’ into a danceable sadness, surgically pulling apart its melancholy with some addictive injections of sound.

The other reason that this particular remix has got people talking, though, is the possibility that it’s the work of famous musician Thom Yorke. According to Pitchfork , Cheryl Waters hinted when she played the track on her show that it was done by someone who will soon play at the Key Arena in Seattle (Radiohead are due to play there in April). Rob Da Bank also fuelled the rumours when he tweeted , “listening to the thom yorke mix of @SBTRKT for the 18th time…unbeatable!”

Publicists haven’t confirmed whether this virtuoso remix is in fact the work of Yorke, but either way, you should hit play and see what all the fuss is about.

Young Turks will release ‘Hold On’ on the 21st February.
