Today Santi releases his debut album, ‘Mandy & The Jungle’, following the incredible ‘Rapid Fire’ (which we premiered last year) and ‘Sparky’, which saw the Nigerian artist directing both music videos.
Incorporating influences as wide-reaching as Shabba Ranks and Blink 182, ‘Mandy & The Jungle’ is a continuation of Santi’s growth in musical diversity. The album features the likes of Goldlink, Amaarae and Shane Eagle.
“Over the past two years, I learnt more about expressing myself and translating that feeling into sound and visuals,” Santi says of the record. “Music has always been about the feeling for me, what it does to you, what it makes you remember and most importantly, where it takes you to. I decided to create a universe, combining everything that has ever influenced or inspired me, the story of Mandy, a girl who has no idea the power that lies inside her.”
Santi has been an important artist in the rise of the Nigerian alté scene which has incorporated traditional Nigerian sounds with Western influences. He featured in our Top Tracks of 2018 list as well as our most exciting acts for 2019 list.
