Deptford Goth’s R&B fetish hits a brick wall with this remix of Purity Ring, the Vancouver-based band releasing through Transparent. The original Ungirthed is so sweet-it’s-unsettling, but DG’s treatment is so unsettling-it’s-sweet – grabbing throbs, shouts, shots and stabs and processing them into a whole that somehow comforts rather than jars.
