Leeds-based Timbah is no stranger when it comes to wonky, cinematic frequencies. Having released a string of club heaters and an album via Sheffield’s Bad Taste Records, he returns to the imprint for a new three-tracker, ‘Helix Spirals’, mining the same kind of globally-reaching sounds that he’s been so hailed for doing in the past.

‘Smokesum’, which we’re premiering below, is packed with East Asian melodies via koto and woodwind instruments plus heartstring-tugging strings and crystalline soundscapes, in the process making something destined for both club and headphone play.

Timbah’s ‘Helix Spirals’ EP is out via Bad Taste Records this Friday 12th July – purchase it here.
