Premiere: Rina Mushonga goes lush and vibrant on Afro-pop jam 'For A Fool'

The Peckham-based singer-songwriter straddles genres on the infectious tune...

Dutch-Zimbabwean artist Rina Mushonga is clearly comfortable grazing multiple genres. In the same vein as acts like tUnE-yArDs and Paul Simon, she dips into lush afro-pop and leftfield electronica – never content to occupy just one musical space.

Growing up in Harare, Zimbabwe, the singer-songwriter lived in Amsterdam before relocating to Peckham – and her sound is as globally diverse as her nomadic nature.

Ahead of her ‘In A Galaxy’ album dropping next month, which explores identity, emancipation and representation, Mushonga has revealed the tissue-massaging ‘For A Fool’.

With its lush arrangement and sweeping chorus, it’s a strong mission statement from the genre-juggler.

Listen exclusively below.

‘In A Galaxy’ will be released by [PIAS] Recordings on February 15th. Rina plays a headline show at the Shacklewell Arms on March 19th.
