Premiere: Konx-Om-Pax - Appleade

Konx-Om-Pax is the otherworldly other name of Glasgow-based video director, graphic designer and producer Tom Scholefield. Having created fantastical neon videos and artwork for the likes of Hudson Mohawke, Kuedo and Lone amongst others, for the cover to his own album ‘Regional Surrealism’ (see Tom’s artwork below) the stripped-back, black-and-white illustration of an alien landscape is a clue to the captivating essays on echoes it contains. Appleade, which Dummy is thrilled to premiere today, was made during sessions for the album but was a little too raucous for the final cut. It stands somewhere between noise and warm, melodic techno, the two intertwining and taking it in turn to lead before the underlying pounding drums are drenched in, and succumb to, the soothing rush of feedback.

Planet Mu will release Konx-Om-Pax’s debut album ‘Regional Surrealism’ on 23rd July 2012
