Gold and Soil are an LA-based duo comprising of Ana Caravelle and Ryan York. The two have been busy in the past – Ana released a solo record in 2010, whilst Ryan has been busy both under the name Asura and as the cellist and double bassist on Zola Jesus’ ‘Contatus’ LP from last year. However, this collaborative record sees the two come together in a much more personal way. The record was, apparently, realised “in a remote yurt somewhere in the depths of Topanga Canyon, a wondrous and lush forested area minutes outside of the city of Los Angeles”. If that sounds lovely to you, then check some pictures of the canyon itself, then cry over the fact that your life will never involve doing anything as beautiful as this.
‘Gold and Soil’ will be released on November 12th through Non Projects. You can stream Alone, from the album, below.
