Premiere: Glasgow grime producer Polonis unleashes the sample-heavy ‘Scars’

Set for both club play and radio, it's yet more proof that grime is blooming north of the border...

For some time now, grime has been flourishing up north, enjoying a healthy scene in Scotland particularly. Glasgow-via-Greenock’s Craig Polonis is one of the cornerstones in this movement – best known for his refix of ‘Ghetto Kyote’, he’s since been contributing a string of sample-heavy productions that bring grime right into the present day.

Now on the brink of putting out a fully-independent, self-released project under his own name, it’s one of Polonis’s most mature efforts to date. ‘Scars’, which we’re premiering below, finds its rhythm made up by spinback samples. “Scars is the first track I made since I got back on making music,” he says. “I wanted to make something for the club and for radio… A track that balances between abstract and and skeng.”

Tune in now.

Polonis’s ‘Polonis’ will be available via his Bandcamp on December 15th 2018.
