Premiere: Fang Lilies - Echelon

"Adapt to surroundings. Escape one clear definition. Work in multiple contexts. Fluctuate like the perfect blend. Serve several purposes."

A life mantra worth following whether you write, cook, save lives, or clean toilets to make your paper.

A meeting of two deep musical and creative minds (who for now, will remain anonymous), Fang Lilies are more than just a sound nestled up in your iTunes library. Featuring on Circadian Rythms' NTS show with a guest mix earlier this summer, their upcoming release 'Chameleon Crystals Vol. 1' on Signal Life is an audio-visual experience, featuring illusive fluo-bathed cover artwork and an exclusive video for Echelon included in the release pack.

To fill in the gaps, a chameleon crystal is a biomimetic innovation in which the surface of an object can be made to adapt to its surroundings by switching the arrangement of multifaceted crystals. Stand-out track Echelon echoes the EP's name, and is a ticking timebomb of seizured strobes, eski clicks and lean-coated synths topped off with an icy coating. Sporadic breathy gasps spiralling up in the midst of the track sound like somebody blowing out the candles on Eski Boy's birthday cake before he even had a chance, and Zomby giving 'em a Hud Mo flavoured slap for it.

Say it and repeat. "Adapt to surroundings. Escape one clear definition. Work in multiple contexts. Fluctuate like the perfect blend. Serve several purposes."

'
Chameleon Crystals Vol 1' is released September 11th on 12” vinyl & digital via Signal Life (buy).
