CREEP and Planningtorock are surely not ones to mess with. Leaning towards a darker side of pop music, Brooklyn duo Creep have reinterpreted Planningtorock’s Doorway from a heavily industrial, heart-throbbingly synthy track to a more lilting, rhythmless piece that is full of melodic swings. The original version and the remix are equally eerie but CREEP’s trip hop approach definitely induces a more melancholic tone. Their signature feature – kickdrums – are remarkably bracing, too, which remind me of their single Days, which they did with Romy xx at the end of last year. Listen carefully.
