Overmono release track played at their first-ever live performance, 'Pieces of 8'

The pair mark their return to XL Recordings with a new 12"

Overmono have announced a new 12″ arriving on XL Recordings.

The pair (aka brothers Tom and Ed Russell)’s record features two tracks: ‘Pieces of 8’ and ‘Echo Rush’, and follows their ‘Everything U Need’ EP, which dropped via XL last year.

A-side single ‘Pieces of 8’ was one of the tracks played during the duo’s first ever live performance, which was for Boiler Room over five years ago and has been a fixture in their live show ever since. It is now part of Joy Orbison’s radio station on Grand Theft Auto.

According to XL, b-side ‘Echo Rush’ was a track that Ed “found on our laptop one day and had no idea when we wrote it” and was made – aptly – on a synthesiser called ‘the virus’.
