Ossie - Ignore

With such stellar full-lengths from Dean Blunt & Inga Copeland, LV and Laurel Halo under their belt this year, you’d be forgiven for thinking that straight-up club records have taken something of a backseat for Hyperdub. What they have released as 12” fare has been solid, though, with DVA’s brilliant Fly Juice dropping last week and with Ossie’s wonderful Ignore, released today. Set The Tone, Ossie’s last record for the label, was a quirky, jazzy tune built around an addictive broken-beat. Ignore retains these elements but strips them down further, so that only a handful of elements remain. It’s insanely catchy, with guest vocalist Tilz’s chatting about the cold shoulder whilst a squelchy bassline plays underneath, but it excels once Ossie lets the final two and a half minutes minutes of percussion and instrumentation play out in their full, simplistic glory.

You can listen to the single below (ripped from Benji B’s radio show) and buy the record on the Hyperdub webstore.
