One quick question with Breakbot

Earlier this year at a Dummy DJ night, one of the tracks that got an outing was BREAKBOT’s Baby I’m Yours. As singer Irfane’s honey tones melted into that heart-stoppingly catchy chorus (‘listen baby, your wish is my commmmmand’), one chap ran up to the DJ box brandishing his mobile phone and a text declaration of love to the Paris based producer. It’s the kind of song that inspires spontaneity even at, say, 8.30pm on a Friday evening. While it originally came out on Ed Banger back in February, Baby I’m Yours is being re-released today because, well, it’s just really, really good. And it comes with a very nice Aeroplane remix (have a listen above) and a rather lovely video too (watch it below). I had a quick word with the bearded man over email.

So Breakbot, which five songs are doing it for you at the moment?

Nuggets New York
This track puts me in a good mood every time, especially the little jewel of orchestration at the beginning.

Mickey Moonlight Pelu Tolo
I am very sensitive to the delicate charm of this song. I like the way Mickey uses percussion in his tracks.

Eli Escobar Love Thing (DJ Mehdi remix)
Classic form from Mehdi, transforming the not bad original into a timeless piece of dance music.

Rubix Baiser Sur La Disco
Not very original, but perfect for soundtracking aquaerobics in the morning.

Surkin Fan Out
The innocence and joy of living in a pure state. I dance just by thinking of it.

Grab Breakbot Baby I’m Yours on limited 10” vinyl from August 9.
