Neneh Cherry & The Thing - Accordion (Madvillain/MF Doom cover)

Stockholm-born singer-songwriter Neneh Cherry and Scandinavian jazz trio The Thing will release a collaborative album, titled ‘The Cherry Thing’, on June 18th via Smalltown Supersound.

‘The Cherry Thing’ is Neneh’s first new album in 16 years, and includes covers of the music of The Stooges, MF Doom, Ornette Coleman, Don Cherry (Neneh’s father) and Martina Topley-Bird, as well as some original material.

The most intriguing is Neneh’s version of hip hop legend MF Doom Accordion. Slow, seductive and intense, Neneh’s Accordion has an intriguing, creepy bassline and sees the artist singing/rapping accompanied by The Thing’s hypnotic trumpets.
