Midnight Davis - Sign Your Name

East London’s Midnight Davis‎ first surfaced on the Five Easy Pieces‎ label back in early 2011, unleashing the dark and psychedelic ‘Aftershocks’ LP, followed by 2012’s four-tracker ‘Need U Tonight’.

Available for download below is Midnight Davis’s rework of Terence Trent D’Arby’s 1988 hit Sign Your Name. Starting with a bed of gentle synth glides and sensuous melodies, it’s a contemporary take on pop via cooling metallic, dubbed-out textures and pulsating rhythms that progress to the middle ground between techno and more leftfield sounds. It’s voluptuous and evocative (as he sings, “sign your name and cross my heart, I want you to be my lady…”), but an overall sense of restlessness prevails.

With two EPs under his belt, we heard that he will be releasing another record soon. No details are available just yet, so watch this space for further information.
