Korallreven - Sa Sa Samoa feat. Julianna Barwick [MP3]

Swedish duo Korallreven’s aptly-named new track Sa Sa Samoa is a direct nod to the Samoan choral traditions that have strongly influenced their debut album, forthcoming on Acéphale. Julianna Barwick’s experimental vocals lend a haunting edge to what is otherwise an uplifting sojourn through a landscape filled with meandering synths, frantic high-hats and a late appearance from a kickdrum, as the show reaches its crescendo. With all those layers of vocal harmonies, if listened to enough times back-to-back, it’s pretty much certain to induce a meditative state of mind in even the staunchest of musical cynics.
