Swedish duo Korallreven’s aptly-named new track Sa Sa Samoa is a direct nod to the Samoan choral traditions that have strongly influenced their debut album, forthcoming on Acéphale. Julianna Barwick’s experimental vocals lend a haunting edge to what is otherwise an uplifting sojourn through a landscape filled with meandering synths, frantic high-hats and a late appearance from a kickdrum, as the show reaches its crescendo. With all those layers of vocal harmonies, if listened to enough times back-to-back, it’s pretty much certain to induce a meditative state of mind in even the staunchest of musical cynics.
A mini-tour has been announced to partner the album launch, and will see the duo, aka Marcus Joons and Daniel Tjäder, perform three live, UK dates.
December 8th | Dublin, Twisted Pepper
December 9th | Glasgow Art School – Clubnight
December 12th | London, Shacklewell Arms
