Gucci Mane – Trap God

18.10.12, Words by: Anthony Walker

2012’s been good to Gucci Mane, and he bounced back from the mess of trouble that marked his last year with a couple of really great mixtapes in ‘Trap Back’ and ‘I’m Up’.

‘Trap God’ is more bellicose and immediately assertive than his past two mixtapes and its overall production is sharply aggressive rather than cloudy or dazzling. That being said, Gucci’s anger is nuanced and controlled: suddenly turning ludicrous, lucid or outright terrifying when he’s dealing with even the most heated or re-heated subject matter. Gucci’s got his mojo back and the mixtape, probably his last of the year, is also an interesting set up for a new album in the next. ‘Trap God’, with a star-studded supporting cast featuring Waka Flocka Flame, Meek Mill and even T-Pain, is available to stream and download below.
