Dpart and Kabu Beats collab on garage tune 'Wasting Time'

"With this track I want to bring the sunshine back and get people vibing whether they’re in their car, garden or a party"

The latest drop from Dpart discusses childhood and how far the North West London rapper has come – he gained a No. 21 in the Official UK Download with ‘Declan Rice’, and having lost his mother at a young age before his father was jailed for high profile art thefts, the rapper paints pictures of his life with his lyricism.

In ‘Wasting Time’ Dpart raps about his upbringing whilst maintaining positivity and lightheartedness – seemingly responding to the female vocal hook that sings the words, ‘I’m wasting my time with you’. In doing so, Dpart speaks from his childhood and responds to misconceptions that surround him.

In previous tunes like ‘Showboat‘, Dpart’s bars are broken up by choruses which he sings – his tonal quality is crisp and matter-of-fact, delivering lyrics that resonate. His discography traverses various genres that have emerged in London, including drill, but in ‘Wasting Time’ he takes to the mic on a track that offers a contemporary take on garage, with help from Kabu Beats.

Dpart says; “With the pandemic the UK has been through a lot of doom and gloom lately. With this track I want to bring the sunshine back and get people vibing whether they’re in their car, garden or a party.’’

‘Wasting Time’ is out now on Dparture Records via DMY.
