Dean Blunt shared a brand new track onto his YouTube channel last Friday, featuring Skepta, A$AP Rocky and Novelist.

Featuring production from Blunt himself, ‘London Tonight Freestyle’ sees three of the biggest UK and US rappers join Dean on vocal duties for one of the year’s most unexpected collaborations. Fans online were quick to label the freestyle “history right here” as well as calling it a “legendary link up”.

“Can’t get over the fact that Novelist went from being loosely mentioned in the Boiler Room Black Lives Matter dean video to being on a song with dean what a time to be alive,” another user wrote, referring to a 2016 discussion featuring Blunt about Black Britishness and racism through the lens of music and the arts.

However, following a tweet from Novelist it seems that the new track wasn’t due to come out when it did. “Dean Blunt leaked our song. A$AP Rocky, Skepta & Novelist,” he wrote. “I aspire for Dean Blunt level mystery,” he also added in a since deleted post.

Blunt is infamous for doing things his own way, with the ‘London Tonight Freestyle’ following in the footsteps of his recent ‘Freestyles SS22’ EP, which features his own version of PJ Harvey’s ‘Rid of Me’ and a cover of Queens of the Stone Age’s ‘Feel Good Hit of the Summer’.
