DAWN celebrates female sexuality on the Hudson Mohawke-produced 'sauce'

"The new breed of women are unapologetic about sex and the way they choosing to express themselves"

R&B renegade DAWN has just shared the third single from her forthcoming ‘new breed’ album, titled ‘sauce’.

Co-produced by Hudson Mohawke and Cole M.G.N, her new cut finds her draping her polished vocal over an oozing, sample-heavy beat.

“‘sauce’ is “about women taking pride in their prowess,” she explained, “and about being raised to celebrate my skin. “I lost focus of that when so many men degraded and disrespected my brown skin.

“‘sauce’ is about being bathed in your own beauty, being sexy for you. The new breed of women are unapologetic about sex and the way they choosing to express themselves.”

‘new breed’ will be DAWN (fka D∆WN/Dawn Richard)’s fifth studio album, and comes out next week on Local Action/Our Dawn Ent.

It follows the electronic experimentalist’s hugely-acclaimed trilogy of albums, and touches on her family history in the Washitaw Nation Tribe as well as her experience as an independent artist navigating all facets of the industry.

She dropped the first single, ‘jealousy’, in September last year, along with a visual of her wearing a headdress sewn by the Chief of her family’s tribe.

DAWN’s ‘new breed’ album is released by Local Action/Our Dawn Ent on January 22nd – preorder it here.
