Crystal Fighters - Plage (Dauwd remix) [stream]

As if Liverpool youngster Dauwd’s springtime Pictures Music set weren’t enough, here’s further evidence that there’s a real talent ready to break; the warm sub-bass, percussive clicks and clacks and lush synths on Could It Be and Shimmer we hear in his delicately crafted remix of the new Crystal Fighters single.

Eking-out vocals and percussion from the original the Pictures Music man’s spin on costal love story Plage takes its time to build at seven minutes long. Keeping with the beach theme, sub-bass depth charges wash up against glistening percussion in its first movement. Swirling keys build into carefully wrought drops, each plunging deeper before a 4×4 beat kicks in. Subtle, danceable and quite anthemic Dauwd’s latest offering would sound at home reverberating off the deck of some Balearic party boat.
