Benny Mails - Mantra

If you're not hip to Benny Mails, I'm here to help you out. The south London rapper is renaissance man, with an unorthodox background that has inspired him to pick up a pen and pad. A former break and contemporary dancer, he has spent the summer playing his first round of festivals (from Lovebox to Visions), supporting the likes of Loyle Carner, Jay Prince, Lil Peep and Cosmo Pyke. In addition to pumping out bangers such as 'I Blocked My Dealer', he also found himself on the recent 'P+F Sounds' mixtape cultivated by photography duo Places + Faces in conjunction with Red Bull. Now, Benny returns with a new single, 'Mantra'.

A smooth, summery boom bap beat is met by intense bars and a vivid story of an individual going through some dark times – from anxiety to the death of relatives. But he sticks to his, ahem, mantra, as he spits: "Everything happens for a reason", confident of a better tomorrow. If there are a few things to take from Benny's music, they are pure honesty and intensity.
