Babe Rainbow – It's All Happening [MP3]
Vancouver producer Babe Rainbow is good at unsettling – his work normally gets cast as hip hop, but it’s always seemed more a screwing of said genre, an excersise reworking and pulling apart, than any particular respect for convention. What comes out – from his ‘Screwed by Babe Rainbow mixtape’, his ‘Shaved’ EP to his new single for Warp is usually worrying, namelessly, vaguely suspicious, always exciting.
Anyway, he tweeted the other night about wanting to make / take on house, so here’s his brilliant loosening of the floorboards, searching for the blackness underneath. Using a sample of High For This by The Weeknd, that other Canadian un settler, it’s a signpost to this exciting producer’s next adventure.
