Anika - In the City (Chromatics cover)

Anika takes on the Chromatics with her unforgettably impassive voice for this ultra-poised cover of In the City. She’s an enigmatic character – political journalist by day, European chanteuse with faultlessly deadpan delivery by night. Her 2010 debut album, Anika, was the perfect, cover-heavy, showcase for her glassy, cold voice.

Her In the City vocals are backed by Bristolian band “Beak>”, led by Geoff Barrow (ex-Portishead), and is due for release on Barrow’s *Invada Records8 as part of the label’s 2012 sampler album.

The Chromatics are an Italo-disco band from Portland, Oregan housed on the Italians Do It Better label. In The City was a breakthrough track for them back in 2007.
