Premiere: Alis - 'Azimuth' EP

When Sabina Plamenova evolved from Subeena to Alis, Dummy spoke to her about this period of transition in detail – how the past few years had been for her personally and creatively, and how the Alis sound could potentially develop. Her latest track at that point – Shame – was a confident and quite daring new direction for her, with the introduction proper of her own vocal talents and a massive side-step away from any old dubstep associations she once had towards a more allusively techno style.

Now, Alis comes armed with the ‘Azimuth’ EP, out next week on Don’t Be Afraid Recordings, of which we are pleased to premiere the stream in full. If Shame was merely teasing with a more tech sound, then ‘Azimuth’ is an all new statement of intent; all hard-hitting analogue kicks, funk-infused grooves and wistful off-key vocals dripping through each layer of sound.

You can stream the EP below, and pre-order it via Boomkat here.
