The Sour Deez Posse - HALLOWE'EZY (Tale From The Shack Mix)

To celebrate the spooky season and our favourite time of the year (well, to most of us, at least), we’re proud to present an eccentric funk and disco-oriented mix, exclusively submitted by our friend The Sour Deez Posse, AKA London-based DJ/ producer Steve Shaw. Billed as “an epic mix of horror”, it’s a two-hour set featuring 36 tracks, covering Prince, Tom Tom Club, The RAH Band, Kleeer, Rick James, Bar-Kays, and many more. It also features guest vocals delivered by journalist and blogger Neil LaRubbio from Montana. Listen and download the mix below, and let it soundtrack your trick-or-treat route.

Steve was also kind enough to provide a bit of insight into the HALLOWEEZY mix and explain what goes down at The Sour Deez Posse headquarters:

As rabid fans of all things strange, I, Steve Shaw, and my supernatural brotherhood The Sour Deez Posse have decided to create a mix for our favourite time of year. Please therefore light a candle, point your Ouija Board to the web portal above and begin jibbering in jive to access it.

Inspired directly by The Twilight Zone, it is probably the best conceptually-spooky boogie mix you’ll ever hear… Or, uh, at least read the tracklist. HALLOWEEZY comprises two hours of tales from the freaky side: terrifying warnings of half-man-half-animals, wavy curses, funk-craving UFOs, implosions of the world’s natural order, evil cyberlovers, body modification experiments, paranormal nightlife, zom-B-boys, and, of course, the social problems caused by the undead’s inability to party. (Basically, it’s all title and artist puns. We love puns here at Sour Towers.) In a hair-raising twist, we have also secured the talents of an old friend, Montana-based journalist and Vice blogger Neil LaRubbio to add a layer of his own paranoid ramblings.

Enjoy. And may God have mercy on your souls.
