SpaceGhostPurrp – Alize Mix

24.02.12

With the gaseous swell of cloud rap of the last six months, there are few creatives more fascinating that Floridian rapper / producer SpaceGhostPurrp. His music is a soggy sonic fiction, recreating patches of rap history – from the booty bounce of 66.6 Blackland to the rain-washed g funk of ‘God Of Black’ – into a constant stream of music that’s sad, fleshy, dark, funny and sumptuous in equal measure. His new tape, released onto YouTube last week, is a slow R&B masterclass, uploaded with no info other than the title. It’s more of “of interest to fans” than an easy listen, but for fans of this unique artist or those about to jump into SpaceGhostPurrp’s world, it’s pretty great.
