Brenmar has turned out some pretty amazing club tracks in the last year or so, such as his debut_Taking It Down_ or the unstoppable So High. With a taste informed as much by the raw glamour and tough sensuality of club R&B as the bass bumps of the hometown he shares with house, Chicago, as well as the rhythmic dexterity years as a drummer taught him, his sets are as good as, and defined by, work, sex, art and money.
Anyhoo, as we may have over-excitedly mentioned, we got sunburnt in Texas around SXSW, and were lucky enough to wind up at a barbecque where Brenmar was playing a bless set of slow-enough-to-sparkle, thick-enough-to-nap-in tracks we can only describe as absolute jams. A not dissimilar set was delivered the other, and we’re very excited to share it with you.
Hey B, how you doing?
Great, staying busy.
What’s the story with this mix?
It’s basically a collection of some of my favorite late 90s, early 2000 R&B tracks. It’s for when you’re in the car or back at your place with that special girl/boy. They are all hits but I tried to keep it varied, you got those “official” hits and then some lesser known gems.
What’s your favorite track on here and why?
Ahhh, I wouldn’t even know where to begin! Luv them all! Ihad a lot of other tracks I wanted on but had to cut because I wanted the mix to be 40 minutes.
You’re busy touring at the moment, right?
On and off yea, i’m always on call lol, it’s where the $ is. I’m in NY now for the next two weeks or so which is nice. I just got back from Japan last week, it was amazing, great shows and vibez. I have a few one-offs here and there throughout the US in August then I’m off to the EU at end of the month for a few shows.
What have you got coming up music-wise?
New EP in September on Hum&Buzz…3 new original tracks with remixes by DJ Mike Q, Dj Pierre and Scratcha DVA. I’m reallllllly excited for the project! Got a few original vocal collaborations on the way too that should be out sooner than later.
And finally, any hustling tips?
