Dummy Mix 82 // Yuck

London pop grunge four piece Yuck released their self-titled debut album on Fat Possum earlier this year, and it’s pretty amazing. We did an interview with them last year, while frontman Daniel Blumberg had also recommended some of his favourite books to us among his excellent collection. Good news always come in threes – Yuck have compiled a mix for us that features tunes from the likes of Tame Impala, The Apples In Stereo and Shellac, which you can download on the right.

We dropped the band a few questions to find out what they’ve been up to recently.

How’s it going?

It goes good! Thanks for asking. How are you?

Good! Please tell us a bit about the mix.

The mix is just a few songs that I’ve been listening to recently, Tame Impala, The Apples in Stereo, Shellac, etc… I wish I could go back and change some songs now but I can’t!

What festival are you most excited about playing?

Well, I know that Prince is playing Way Out West festival in Sweden, so I am excited for that. Primavera was fucking amazing, but we’ve already played that. The entire line up was so good.

What other artists are really blowing you guys away in 2011?

New bands? Probably Fanzine. Also Unknown Mortal Orchestra, a band who we’re touring America with at the moment. They’re incredible. I’ve been listening to a lot of Tame Impala, and also Smith Westerns.

What’s coming up for you over the next few months?

We’re doing a headline UK and Europe tour which will be really good, also playing our biggest London show at the Electric Ballroom which will be amazing. Then just recording and stuff whenever I’m home… we also just confirmed playing ‘The Weezer Cruise’, which is kind of self explanatory. But it is a dream come true. I’ve always had a dream of playing with Weezer on a boat, and now it has come true. Yes.

Pharmacy released Yuck’s 12” ‘Shook Down / Milkshake’ on the 11th July 2011
