Dummy Mix 65 // March staff mix

Rolling into the third month of the year, we present our third mix of the year, and this time round, it’s a bumper harvest. Weighing in at 70 minutes over 15 tracks, we’ve pulled together the tracks from the best releases of the month, most exciting artists around at the moment, and recent stuff we just found and adore.

We kick off with Joy Orbison’s shift toward Detroit house continues with this loose, bright track, out on Hotflush on the 21st March, and then go into Koreless’s 4D, released through Pictures Music, before this collaborative piece out on Brownswood, the Owiny Sigoma Band. Half Kenyan, half British, all lovely. How To Dress Well’s Ready For The World, as remixed by Manchester man XXXY surfaced yesterday, and there’ll be an interview with XXXY coming this month.

Next up is Psychologist, a thrilling singer on Moshi Moshi imprint Not Even. Hand-delivered and sealed in wax, the promo copy of his ‘Waves Of OK’ EP has worked its sweet way into our heart. Watch out for much more on this guy, seriously. Kurt Vile’s album is really, really brilliant, and we’ll also be interviewing him later in the month, along with Sleep ∞ Over, whose Casual Diamond is up next. Stefanie Franciotti has shed her two band mates, and this almost impossibly romantic track, drenched in eerie glow and blushing unease will be released by Hippos In Tanks on the 4th April, but we’ll be running a piece on her this month, so stay on the ball.

Running next we have a trio of fabulous takes on the garage ‘nuum, a gorgeous track by FaltyDL (who made us a mix last week!) and All The Way Down by Lower, whose sumptuous, highly individual take on R&B caught our attention and we featured last year. Eyes here for a big announcement next week on the guy. Presuming you have this thing called “Google”, you already know about Tyler the Creator. Here’s a remix by similarly clever-enough-to-be-daft American, Toro Y Moi. Another remix we were actually excited about is Jam City’s bracing, banging take on Toby Ridler’s Becoming Real project familiar to anyone that popped down to our night last week.

Blawan’s bright, percussive EP on R&S came out last week, and the next song, Lavender, is our favourite from the EP. Watch out for an interview, live later on today. Friends of the family and monthly mixers Lightworks will be bringing out their first 12”, Ossie’s Tarantula, and they were nice enough to let us play it to you.
