Through their lively DJ sets and cutting-edge production, London club duo Super Drama have built something of a cult following. Following releases on Moshi Moshi and Phantasy, the Dalston Superstore favourites’ three-track EP ‘Excess‘ has just come out via new, queer-focused label 51-53. Named after the Stonewall’s Inn address in New York, the imprint specialises in “the grittier side of electronic music. House, techno and everything in between”.
‘Excess’ is an ode to London’s queer rave scene and the genre-less nature of the UK club scene right now, pitting in-vogue breakbeats next to UK funky bounce and rhythmic bass stabs. Kicking off Pride month with the EP, Jerome Slesinski and Jon Arnold are also helming the latest Dummy Mix, an exuberant ride through some of the best electronic music made by queer producers on the club landscape. “To celebrate the first release on 51-53 and of course Pride, we thought it’d be good to do this mix with all queer artists,” Super Drama say.
“We play this stuff out all the time so we had a lot of material to choose from. There are so many artists doing really exciting things that nod to the past and aim for the future. From Shaun J.
