West Africa art and music festival announced in Manchester

Afrocubism, an interesting project of Cuban and Malian musicians combined together, will perform this June in Manchester as part of the We Face Forward festival.

The internationally-acclaimed group born from the makers of Buena Vista Social Club will play live at the The Bridgewater Hall on the 3rd. As previously reported, Afrocubism will also perform at east London’s Field Day and Spanish Primavera Sound over the summer.

The West Africa art and music festival will host acts such as Mamane Barka & Etran Finatawa, two of Niger’s leading internationally known music groups.

We Face Forward will be celebrated across Manchester’s music venues, galleries and public spaces from 1 June to 16 September as part of London 2012 Festival.

The festival is musically curated by Mancunian venue/organization Band On The Wall, one of the cornerstones of Manchester’s lively music scene, known for bringing some of the best music from around the world to the stage and for being the centre of Manchester’s punk scene in the late 1970s.

Tickets info and more details are available on the Band On The Wall website.
