With the world currently locked down due to the spread of coronavirus, the very concept of a festival now feels like a distant memory. People gathering, hugging, dancing: these are all things we now desperately crave. SXM festival, which took place on the idyllic Caribbean island of Saint Martin, must have been one of the last festivals to take place before the world crept into self-isolation.
Bonobo, Danny Tenaglia, tINI, Ricardo Villalobos, Cassy and more all performed at the sunshine-soaked island, which saw tropical weather.
Boasting a strong ecological and charitable ethic, the festival this year announced a volunteer programme where attendees were encouraged to take a break from the party and meet the locals while offering their service to the island, while Blond:ish’s sustainability organisation BYE BYE PLASTIC was an official partner.
