Ol' Dirty Bastard and Eazy-E to give "original virtual performances" at Rock the Bells

You just can’t keep a good rapper down – apparently – as the deceased Eazy-E and Ol’ Dirty Bastard are both billed as “Special Guests” for this year’s Rock the Bells festival. The annual festival series, touring eight cities on the West and East coast of America this Autumn, has listed “original virtual performances” from Eazy-E – a member of NWA and owner of Ruthless Records who died from an AIDs-related illness in 1995 – and ODB – a founding Wu-Tang member who died of an accidental overdose in 2004 – on their official roster. Their virtual reincarnations will feature alongside the Wu-Tang Clan and much-loved Ruthless Records’ act Bone Thugs-N-Harmony in inevitably nostalgic sets.

Though no other specific details of the shows have been announced you’d assume they’d make use of the modelling and projection techniques that “brought back” 2Pac at last year’s Coachella – with the technology developed by the now bankrupt Domain Digital Media Group for that show becoming increasingly accessible and popular.
