Tom Scholefield is a busy man. He can only spare 20 minutes on the phone because he’s got to finish the artwork for Hudson Mohawke’s forthcoming album on Warp. Like, today. Part of Glasgow’s Lucky Me collective, Scholefield is better known as director/animator/designer Konx-on-Pax. At 24, he’s already racked up an impressive portfolio of work including Jamie Lidell’s beautifully simple ‘You Got Me Up’ video, a phenomenal living, breathing landscape for the Advanced Beauty project, artwork and installations for Optimo, and HudMo’s electric rainbow visuals. “I graduated from the Glasgow School of Art three years ago and probably spent more time than I should have organising parties at the student union,” says Tom. “Doing parties, raves, DJing and meeting people, I discovered that I could design sleeves and do videos through that. It’s what I’ve been doing ever since.” With artwork for cheeky bleeper Rustie on the way, check Konx-om-Pax’s myspace for details of parties with DFA’s Capracara (who he’s also worked his video magic for) and his own “extreme noisy” releases.
