Kelela in the hottest moment of LA summer
Earlier this month we posted our interview with Kelela, Fade to Mind's first ever vocalist and the voice behind Kingdom's song-of-the-year, Bank Head. On her debut mixtape 'Cut 4 Me', dropped via the Night Slugs sister label on the 1st October, Kelela sings with a balance between acrobatic skill and chill nonchalance that only actual popstars can achieve, not to mention over some of the most abrasive and inventive production around. Totally starstruck, we caught up with her in what she described herself as the "hottest moment of LA summer" to talk about the newfound confidence and sense of withholding that defines her stunning debut release, as well as to get some portraits in the suburban-meets-industrial landscape of her city.
