Keith Haring party flyers from the 80s

During his short career Keith Haring’s unabashedly garish street-art style paintings came to sum up New York cool, feeding on influences such as punk and hip-hop. But most notable is Haring’s roots in New York’s street art and graffiti, a craze that spawned in grimy subways on the Lower East Side, upper Manhattan and The Bronx during the late 70s. Haring was also heavily involved in club culture, curating a revolving gallery for the fourth floor of the chic downtown nightclub and live music venue The Mudd Club and these mostly acid house flyers, unearthed by Retronaut are testament to Keith’s links to the culture of the dance.
