Bloc confirm London Pleasure Gardens for 2012 venue

Bloc Weekender have confirmed they will be holding this year’s festival at the London Pleasure Gardens in Pontoon Dock, east London, on the weekend of the 6th – 7th of July.

The Pleasure Gardens are the “brainchild of the crew behind the late-night area of Glastonbury known as Shangri-La. Their vision was to create a multi-faceted space in the heart of Olympic London to facilitate the arts and culture happenings that have made London what it is”, so the press release states.

In addition to the permanent venues and space which will be part of the Pleasure Gardens, such as the Shangri-La Glastonbury ‘Hub’ stage and a 30 metre wide geodesic dome, “Bloc will also take advantage of the limitless versatility the venue has to offer by creating never-been-dreamed-of structures, including a vast custom-built main arena constructed from shipping containers. All the stages will be within walls and covered.”

Bloc has traditionally taken place in the Minehead Butlins in Spring, and previous headliners have included A Guy Called Gerald, Luke Vibert, Aphex Twin, Rusko, Addison Groove, Ulrich Schnauss, Juan Atkins, Loefah and Derrick May.
