Acid house & 21st century psych art from Golden Sun Movement

Now showing at the Idea Generation gallery in Shoreditch, London is a set of artworks by three graphic designers that helped visualise acid house’s explosion in 1988. Luke Insect, Leo Zero and David Little formed the collective Golden Sun Movement back when, and though their CVs read like a potted history of the 90s Shoreditch scene – running an office out of Brick Lane’s Truman Brewery when Spitalfields was the back-end of nowhere, collabs with Banksy and Damon Albarn, going on to make art for The Prodigy and big corporates like Nike and Orange – it’s their eyeball popping work for 1987-89 clubs like Spectrum and The World that still thrills with its mix of cheek and innocence. Interestingly, their fascination with 60s psyche and electronic dance music lead to them being there for Balearica’s second brief flowering at the end of the last decade, working with Richard Norris on his wonderful The Time And Space Machine.
