The 10 best tracks to jack to, according to Breach

Having released his irresistible ‘Jack’ EP on Claude VonStroke’s Dirtybird imprint earlier this month, it’s safe to say that Ben Westbeech, currently working under the alias Breach, is in the mood to jack. Full of ghetto house-indebted, filthy dancefloor anthems, ‘Jack’ is a stupidly fun release, and Westbeech will be unleashing it in all its reckless abandon at London’s XOYO this Friday. To find out what you can expect from a Breach set besides his own irrepressible jams, stream his ten best jackin’ tracks below.

  1. Nina Kraviz – Pain in the Ass (Alex Kid remix)
Ben/Breach: “When I heard this tune I just turned it up super loud and danced around my studio. It made me dance pretty stupid so this is on my list. I got a lot of inspiration for my record ‘Jack’ from this.”
  2. Andrea De Rocco – The Past Present
Ben: “This is a staple in my DJ sets. I just can’t stop playing it. The drums are super jack spesh. I love the breakdown and when it comes back in – I’ve seen some pretty amazing dances to this record.”
  3. LFO – Track 4
Ben: “Not necessarily a ‘jackin’ track’, but it makes me jack so it’s going in. Way ahead of its time this record.”
  4. DJ – Slugo – Like It Raw
Ben: “Whaaaaaaa! This one is too much on the dancefloor. So dope. Chicago jackin’ DJ weapon.”
  5. Adonis – No Way Back
Ben: “It’s 1986 Traxx Records’ classic. The term Jack originated from the dance moves of Chicago in the 80s, so I’ve got to include something from these times and this is one of my all-time favourites.”
  6. Phil Weeks – Jack to My Groove
Ben: “Deep house roller: such a simple groove with a tight vocal. Job done. I first heard this at about 9am at an afterparty. The DJ dropped this and it all went a bit wonky.”
  7. Green Velvet – The Stalker (Laidback Luke extended mix)
Ben: “It’s such a good mix of this classic tune – when the bass comes it’s on. Nat Self introduced me to this record a few years back and I’ve just started playing it again.”
  8. DJ Sneak – Feel Da Muzik
Ben: “A new one from Sneak, the groove this guy gets on this is so dope. Super choppy jackin’ beat.”
  9. Shed – Do it Yourself (WK7)
Ben: “German Techno re-definer Shed. Killer.”
  10. Washerman – Basement Chord
Ben: “I get so lost in this record. You can’t help but get into this one. I never want it to end.”

Breach will appear alongside Danny Daze and Chez Damier at XOYO this Friday – more information on that here.
