Ten interesting facts about Gang Gang Dance

  1. Their previous band name was Death And Dying.
  2. They pulled off an elaborate audio-visual presentation at the Whitney Biennial in New York.
  3. They conducted an 88-minute long orchestra of 88 drummers on the Brooklyn waterfront in an epic cross-country collaboration with legendary Japanese band Boredoms.
  4. They also played a gig with Boredoms on a Russian Cruise Ship during an eclipse.
  5. Brian DeGraw DJ-ed for New York City Mayor Bloomberg and played Born in the USA on national television when he got elected.
  6. Band member Brian Degraw soundtracked a video, Sonic the Warhol, for artists Nick Relph & Oliver Payne in 2005, which originally debuted at the Serpentine Gallery in London.
  7. Brian DeGraw may well have synesthia and sees bass notes as a slug melting after being salted.
  8. Tim DeWitt was shot in a bar, but went drinking the next night, and apparently forgave the the assailant, declining to press charges.
  9. The artwork to each album previous to ‘Eye Contact’ features the eyes of late bandmate Nathan Maddox, who was killed after being struck by lightning in 2002.
  10. They have a full time vibes-man-cum-spiritual advisor called Taka Imamura.
