Wu Lyf live on Letterman

Watch the Manchester quartet dazzle across the Atlantic with this incredible US television debut.

Wu Lyf brought their own brand of heavy pop to America last night, as they performed the Go Tell Fire to the Mountain track on the Late Show with David Letterman .

With arresting intensity and meticulous precision, the band somehow manage to mix that annoyingly effortless brand of cool with a performance that would be hard to beat. All soaring, gravelly-voiced melodies, hopeful guitar twangs and bustling drums, the band light up Letterman’s stage from start to finish; then, in basking in the silence that follows their blinding noise, they hilariously shuffle away from the stage with barely two words to the presenter himself.

If you watch carefully, you’ll see lead vocalist Ellery shout “What’s up, motherfuckers!” at the end of his outstanding performance, leaving Letterman chuckling heartily away to himself as he closes the show. Like their performance itself, it’s big, it’s unabashed, and it’s bound to make an impression.
